This project involved the conversion of a Grade II listed coach house to a two bedroom annexe and a link attached indoor swimming pool. The client required a traditionally formed indoor swimming pool with a structure that allowed a vaulted ceiling aspect to the swimming pool building. The coach house required two bedrooms and a living space with internal contemporary detailing.
The design took on board lowering the former first floor to the coach house and introducing new steel frame of which was left exposed to allow the old and new supporting structures to complement one another. A walnut and stainless steel spiral staircase was designed due to restraints of the existing structure that could not be removed.
The swimming pool house was designed with timber glue-lam portal frames with stainless steel shoes that allowed a continuous vaulted ceiling.
