The Project was a replacement dwelling in a secluded plot surrounded by mature trees and well landscaped garden. The client’s brief was for the design not to be of traditional typology.
The client had already built a traditional indoor swimming pool some years earlier and their dream was to design a contemporary family home in contrast to the adjacent traditional form, whilst maximising internal views.
The house was restricted in height, so we introduced a low pitch aluminium standing seam roof, that allowed the internal floor to ceiling heights and the overall mass, the client liked the roof option put forward and continued the design with standing seam cladding.
Features consisted of underground parking with a green roof, walk on roof lights above the basement within the patio, striking corner oriel windows and full height glazed entrance.
The main design feature was the large, cantilevered master bedroom that provides a covered canopy area for alfresco dining and a retreat from the sun.
The clients are so pleased and overwhelmed with the outcome, they have given Spatial Design Architects endless positive feedback throughout.
