The developers required a full architects’ service for this project from conception through to completion - co-ordinating all consultants and being a team leader for 42 flats within two blocks.
The main challenge was the access into the site to meet both London Borough of Havering Highways departments and Transport for London requirements.
The design principles are taken from the history of the site having industrial use. The design takes the lead from other former and recently approved schemes along the Southend arterial road and responds in height to the significant width of the site. The forms of the blocks are mainly contemporary brick detailing with industrial metal balconies and details and blue zinc boxes on the top floor to blend in with the sky.
Spatial Design Architects are supported in full by London Borough of Havering planning department and we hope to achieve planning approval later this year.
